Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 November 2026
This policy explains what personal data Fidova collects, why, who we share it with, and your rights. Fidova is a product of Fido Innovative Solutions Ltd ("we", "us"), RC 1900685. We are the data controller for the Fidova app and website, and we process personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
1. Data we collect
- Account details: full name, phone number, email address, and password (stored only in hashed form).
- Seller details: if you register as a merchant, your business name, category, description, social media links, and the products you list, including their photos.
- Bank details: the bank account number, bank name and account name you add for withdrawals. We verify the account name with our payment provider.
- Transaction data: orders, amounts, fees, wallet funding and withdrawals, delivery confirmations, disputes and reviews.
- Payment data: card payments are handled entirely by our licensed payment provider. We never see or store your full card number or PIN.
- Device and usage data: a push notification token for your device, and your IP address, which our hosting provider records in server logs. We use these for notifications, security and to prevent abuse.
- Verification codes: one-time codes sent to your phone or email, which expire after 10 minutes and can only be used once.
2. Why we use it
- To create and secure your account, and verify your phone number and email.
- To process payments, hold funds until delivery is confirmed, release them to sellers and pay withdrawals to your bank.
- To send you transaction alerts, verification codes and service notices by SMS, email and push notification.
- To review and resolve disputes between buyers and sellers.
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse and unauthorised access.
- To meet our legal, regulatory, tax and accounting obligations.
We rely on the contract with you (to provide the service), our legitimate interests (security and fraud prevention), legal obligations, and your consent where required. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
3. Who we share it with
We work with trusted service providers who process data on our behalf, under contract, and only for the purposes below. We share only what each one needs to do its job:
| Type of partner | What we share | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Licensed payment provider | Name, email, payment amounts, bank account details | To take payments, verify bank accounts and pay out withdrawals |
| SMS and email providers | Phone number, email address, name | To send verification codes, transaction alerts and service emails |
| Cloud hosting and storage providers | The data described in section 1 | To run our servers and database, and store images you upload |
| Push notification provider | A device token and the text of the notification | To send notifications to your phone |
You can ask us for the names of the providers we currently use by emailing [email protected].
Other Fidova users. The other party in a transaction sees your name, rating, number of completed transactions and when you joined. If you register as a merchant, your business profile and the products you list are visible to other users. Signed-in users who already know your phone number or email address can look you up to start a transaction, and see your name. We never show your phone number, email address or bank details to other users.
Legal reasons. We may disclose data where the law requires it, to law enforcement or regulators, or to protect users from fraud.
Data stored outside Nigeria. Our servers, database and several of our providers are located outside Nigeria, so your data is transferred and stored abroad. We only make these transfers as permitted by the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, using providers bound by contracts that require them to protect your data.
4. How long we keep it
We keep your account data while your account is open. Transaction and financial records are kept for as long as Nigerian law requires (generally 5 to 6 years) even after you close your account. Verification codes stop working after 10 minutes. Server logs are kept for a limited period and then deleted automatically.
5. Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Passwords are hashed, and sensitive fields are encrypted in our database. Access to production systems is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your password and verification codes private. Fidova staff will never ask for them.
6. Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, or delete your personal data, object to or restrict how we use it, or receive a copy of it. You can also withdraw consent where we rely on it. Some data must be kept to meet legal obligations, as above. To make a request, contact us using the details below. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
7. Deleting your account
You can request deletion of your account by contacting us at [email protected]. Any wallet balance must be withdrawn and open transactions completed first.
8. Children
Fidova is not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Early-access list
If you join our early-access list on this website, we collect your email address, your first name (if you give it) and whether you want to buy, sell or both. We use this only to tell you when Fidova is available and to invite people to try it early. The list is stored with our email provider. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your details at any time by emailing [email protected]. We'll delete the list once it's no longer needed for launch.
10. Changes to this policy
We'll post updates here and change the date at the top. For significant changes, we'll notify you in the app or by email.
